ON YOUR MARK GET SET SHOP
by Tracey Jackson

There are several key well-known charity events that take place each summer in the Hamptons. There is The Parish Museum Gala, The Robert Wilson Watermill Benefit, Authors Night for the East Hampton Library and then the shop til you drop, girls just wanna have fun, high end tag sale shindig known as Super Saturday.

Super Saturday is a fund-raiser for the Ovarian Cancer Research Fund. The event was founded in 1998, by late Harper's Bazaar editor Liz Tilberis.
Under the tent at Super Saturday.
Ms. Tilberis, who suffered from ovarian cancer, started Super Saturday as a tag sale in her backyard. She gathered some of her designer friends who donated some of their clothes for sale and the money they made went to the charity. Sadly she died a year later. But her friends have made sure that the event lives on.

It is still the same principle, only now on steroids. For fifteen years the event has been held in a giant tent in Water Mill. It attracts hundreds of people and last year raised over three and half million dollars. It brings out both the humanitarian and the bargain hunter in all. As you see women carrying $15,000 handbags tussling over a five dollar tee-shirt with someone who drove over in a Bentley. But women love a bargain no matter what percentage they fall into.
I spotted Joy Behar ...And Donna Karan.
I also spotted lots of white dresses, long to the floor.
Some of the designers you can pick up at sample sale prices are Donna Karan, Diane Von Furstenberg, Alice and Olivia, Ralph Lauren, Helmut Lang, Robert Rodriguez, Rachel Zoe ... it's endless. In fact it's row after row after row. Benefit makeup nestled up to Current Elliot who is a few spaces away from Donna Karan Handbags. You can see how it got the name Super Saturday.

Since this is about fashion, it is always a place where women pay attention to what they and everyone else are wearing. And of course there is the shop, shop, shop part. But it's guilt free shopping as all the money does go to the charity.

This year the trends I spotted were white dresses, long to the floor. Lace ~ lace is trending and if it's white and long you are there, wherever there is.
Clothes!
And more clothes.
The long and the short.Bags, bags, bags.
Lunch by Sant Ambroeus.
My favorite table toothpaste.
But yesterday if you were in the Hamptons, the place to be was Super Saturday, helping raise money for ovarian cancer, which kills 14,320 women in the US each year. So at the end of the day it really didn't matter what you wore, as long as you contributed what you could.
